Calisthenics as Strength Training

The word calisthenics is derived from the ancient Greek word “kállos” which means “beauty”, and “ sthenos” which means “strength”. It is a physical workout that focuses on resistance training with our own body weight. Essentially is weight training that focuses on building strength and flexibility without the use of any equipment.

One of the benefits of calisthenics as strength training is the movements you perform during calisthenics greatly improve your body mobility and allow you to reduce your chance of injury. Moreover, calisthenics essentially uses compound exercises that strengthen multiple joints together and improves their robustness of them. Lowing the chance of accidental injury and helping speed up recovery.

Calisthenics allows the world to be your gym, the freedom to exercise in any location with enough space to move your body.  Moreover, your body is all the weight you in this resistance training and can be done when you wake up in the morning or getting home from work !!

This means when performing exercises, remember to engage your muscle all the way. Also, never rush a workout to save time as this will lead to improper form and thus injuries.
