Is it true to say that white chocolate can aid in fat burning? Hence, even while on a diet, you can still enjoy chocolate. Recent research suggests that white chocolate can aid in weight loss (1). Benefit of White Chocolate

White chocolate is manufactured from cocoa butter, sugar, milk solids, and occasionally vanilla. Furthermore, white chocolate lacks cocoa solids, which are found in other forms of chocolate such as milk chocolate and dark chocolate, which leads some to believe that white chocolate is a forgery.  Besides, the use of pure cocoa butter makes white chocolate bars nutritious. Also, pure cocoa butter is high in antioxidants, which are beneficial to body health (Ipatenco, 2018).

So, did you know that chocolate can aid weight loss and promote blood sugar management? Moreover, research has indicated the benefits of white chocolate consumption for weight loss and diabetes control in a recent study on postmenstrual women. In short, the study, titled “Timing of chocolate intake affects hunger, substrate oxidation, and microbiota: A randomized controlled trial” (1).

The Right Time to Eat White Chocolate

Consequently, in the randomized controlled trial study conducted, nineteen postmenopausal caucasian females participated. The observations were made after studying the effect of consumption of a specific amount of chocolate within a limited timeframe. 

According to the research, two highlights of the study included decreased fasting glucose due to morning chocolate intake and no significant weight gain witnessed despite the chocolate consumption. As reported by The Harvard Gazette, key points of study among the women included (2):  For example, 

  • Eating white chocolate at any time of day or night did not result in weight increases.
  • Eating chocolate in the morning or evening may influence hunger, sleep, microbiota composition (gut health), and other factors. 
  • A heavy chocolate intake in the morning may help burn fat and lower blood glucose levels.
